Curatorial Assistant

Ceramics Instructors

MAM is seeking a dynamic ceramics instructor to teach afterschool, evening, weekend, and summer classes. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience teaching ceramics in a studio classroom setting and is skilled in hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques, kiln operation, and classroom management with a proven commitment to teaching beginner and intermediate-level children, teens, and adults with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning needs. Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Art Instructor for Private Studio Instruction (Virtual and/or At MAM)

The Montclair Art Museum is seeking experienced instructors for our new Access Program: Private Studio Instruction. Private Studio Instruction is offered through the Yard School for all ages, taught by trained educators and designed specifically to meet the goals of individuals with disabilities, including physical disabilities, intellectual and learning disabilities, sight loss or hearing loss, or mental illness. Private Studio Instruction can take place in MAM’s studios, or through live online instruction using the Zoom platform. Instructors will be responsible for designing and delivering on-time or multi-part instruction unique to each student and designed to build on the specific strengths and goals of the student. Instructors will teach online and/or at the Museum, on a part-time, flexible schedule.

Art Instructors – MAM’s Yard School of Art

MAM welcomes interested artist/educators to submit proposals for online or in-person or workshops in studio art, ceramics, or digital media. 

To apply, please provide resume, an illustrated portfolio of your teaching including two sample lesson plans teaching to the target audience you are interested teaching at MAM, three professional references that reflect your teaching practices, and images of your own artwork as a practicing artist.

Proposals will be reviewed by the Education Director upon the following variables: interest and availability of student base, compatibility with curriculum and exhibitions, and the quality and thoroughness of the proposal. Studio Art and Outreach Educator

We are growing our team of art educators to design and lead studio art programs for schools, homeschool and learning pod groups, families, and senior citizens both at MAM and online! MAM is looking for energetic, creative, and experienced art instructors to develop and facilitate studio art lessons designed to support current exhibitions, tour themes, and school curricula. Studio art lessons are offered as part of virtual or in-person museum visits for schools and includes docent-led tours. Family programs include engaging multigenerational audiences through virtual Sunday Studio, Family Days, and more. Community outreach events include fairs and festivals, using MAM’s Art Truck. Visit to learn more about our offerings.  Weekday and weekend work as needed with daytime availability required. Minimum 3 years experiencing working with young audiences in an art education setting required. Experience teaching virtually and bilingual a plus.
